Procurement Specialist
Job description
Kalogon, a smart seating startup based in Melbourne, seeks a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support the rapid growth experience in our medical product and aerospace product portfolios. This role is ideal for someone looking to apply their experience in a fast-paced environment in which you will have broad, independent ownership over procurement and supplier relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take technical requirements from engineering and source and select materials
- Manage global supply chain, source parts from new overseas suppliers, and develop partnerships with contract manufacturers
- Use sales projections to ensure that materials are purchased at the right time and at the right price
- Identify and evaluate suppliers
- Issue purchase orders and track deliveries
- Negotiate supplier agreements, pricing, and terms
- Maintain second sources in response to anticipated supply chain risks
- Monitor vendor performance and quality and proactively address concerns
- Balance the management of inventory carrying costs with the management of supply chain risk
- Assist R&D with procurement of materials for new product offerings
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain
- Strong skills in vendor communication and relationship management
- Ability to negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times
- Strong organization skills to manage procurement for products with extensive and complex bills of materials, based on dynamic sales projections
- Strong ability to independently own projects and deliver results
Preferred but Not Required:
- Familiarity with international sourcing, especially of PCB components
- Background in made-to-order manufacturing
- Experience with budget tracking and cost analysis
